I previously shared an article about the recovery of the flight data recorders from this Bolivian air crash and the NTSB's agreement to test them. (There was an Outside magazine podcast about their recovery.) The NTSB was not able to recover any useful data from the recovered magnetic tapes, and the reason is simultaneously hilarious and cringeworthy. It was a nice idea to think a couple guys could take a trip to Bolivia, do an amateur crash investigation and have something useful come from it. Nice idea, but sadly mistaken.
